"I ran into Pat McEvoy's paintings quite by accident at a frame shop, if the word accident can apply to the fact that I am constantly on the prowl for art. I was immediately struck by it, since it is an art that strikes. In these paintings there was all that I look for in what I consider to be important art--power, beauty and originality. Without my writing another line, all one has to do is give a few moments to a perusal of her paintings to experience exactly what I mean". "Pat McEvoy's paintings are timeless in style, and are, at the same time, very personal statements". "The colors in these paintings are too good to be entirely true, for all the fact that they originate in nature. As colors always do in an art where the expressive content is under tight control, they focus the visual power of McEvoy's compositions into particular kinds of emotional moods. Like the moods established in classical music, these emotions may not be verbally definable. However, they certainly can be felt by anyone simply hanging loose before these paintings, and allowing the drama to unfold". James K. Kettlewell, art historian
